What To Do When You Feel Lost in Life
I’m just gonna come out and say it: the last two years have been tough.
Nearly every woman I’ve talked to has felt the ups and downs of living through a global pandemic.
It’s affected our families, careers, social lives, health, and nearly every other aspect of life. There have been job changes, births, divorces, new businesses, celebrations, binge-watching Netflix, tears flowing, introspection, and everything in between. It’s like we stepped onto a Covid roller coaster in March 2020 and just when we think the ride is over, it takes us for one more loop.
Does anyone else just feel… a little lost?
Many of my Life Coaching clients have expressed this “lost” feeling. While the pandemic has created stress, brain fog, burnout, and any emotion you could think of, it’s also made a lot of people ask:
“What the hell am I actually doing with my life?”
Figuring out where you want to go on this journey called life requires time, energy, and deep introspection. If you really want to GO THERE and dig deep, I recommend checking out my 90-Day Life Coaching Program.
I’m sharing my 3 tips for what to do when you feel lost in life.
Align with your values and principles. When you feel lost, you might lose sight of your main priorities in life. However, your personal values are the foundation of who you are. They are your bedrock. Your values define who you are, what’s important to you, and your commitment to yourself. When feeling lost, spend time reconnecting and realigning with your values. Ask yourself, “What are my top 3 values? How can I intentionally live these values every day?” Aligning with your values will help you feel more connected to your higher self who is living with intentionality and purpose.
Pay attention to what brings you energy. Energy is SO important to living a purposeful life. What are the things that give you energy? Go ahead and make a list. Is it spending tech-free time with your family? Is it eating healthy, nourishing food? Is it taking a walk in nature? Is it reading a book by yourself with a cup of tea? Is it a heart-pumping spin class? Get clear and specific on the things that bring you energy. Now be honest, are you consciously incorporating these activities into your daily life? If not, now is the time to start. It’s also helpful to identify the things that drain you of your energy. What are the things that exhaust you? Social events with tons of people? A heavy meal that makes you feel stuffed? Not getting enough sleep? Become aware of your “energy vampires” and choose to consciously limit these activities. Saying “no” to them is protecting your energy and sanity, so you can focus on your joy and purpose, not feeling lost in the shuffle of life.
Use visualization to get clear on what you want for yourself. Create a specific picture of your ideal future – no restrictions! Where would you live? Who would you be with? What is your job? What are you eating? How is your day structured? Get as detailed as possible and write it all down. Creating a vision of your ideal future will give you clarity around what you really want for yourself. Each day, connect with this future vision. You can re-read your vision, create a vision board, or do a meditation visualization exercise. Aligning with your vision will give you purpose and clarity around your future.
